Glossary

Code

Code refers to the status of the person who listed the patent information on the Patent Register. There are three classes:

  • "A" - patent owner.
  • "B" - exclusive licensee.
  • "C" - has consent of patent owner.

DIN

A DIN, or Drug Identification Number, is a unique eight digit number assigned by Health Canada to identify a drug which has been approved for marketing and sale in Canada.

Patent Number

A patent number is a unique seven digit number assigned by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) to identify a patent. The number is assigned at the time the patent application is filed. A patent can be viewed by entering the patent number into the CIPO patent database
